Pack of 5 Phonics Readers Set 1 _ Simple Phonics Books to allow a child to gain confidence at their own pace
Amazing Child Montessori
£9.99
Pack of 5 Phonic Readers Set 1 - Early Readers. Allowing a child to gain confidence at their own pace when starting to read is key to their success. Many reading schemes aimed at primary school children take things too fast for many younger children. To address this Amazing Child Montessori have written and published a two stage reading programme to give the child high success rates and boost reading confidence. This first set of five books (Bad Fox, Hot Dog, Dad's Cat, Pig, Em's Egg) uses simple phonic words consisting of consonant - vowel - consonant and minimal sight words: the, and, is and has. The text is very simple, with no punctuation and relates clearly to the witty illustrations. The second set of five books use the same stories as set one but rewritten with more vocabulary and simple sentence punctuation. This plot repetition is a useful progression giving the child confidence to tackle the longer sentences. The introduction page is for the adult to discuss with the child. It prepares the child for the sounds and sight words that will be encountered in the book. Sight words are only listed if they are not phonetic. The review page is similarly designed for discussion: it lists all the words encountered in the story, and has some sample questions to initiate a conversation. To further reinforce the language, children are encouraged to choose an illustration and write about it. They can use the word list from this page to help them. The children's reading text in the books is black on pale cream to avoid glare. Set 2 is also available to add more vocabulary and sentence punctuation to these stories. The child: practises reading the sounds, reads the sight words for the story, reads the story, practises reading the word lists, re-reads the story and answers questions about it.
