This title offers the deck that people who loved Caroline's books have been waiting for. These cards are designed to help people to obtain greater insights into the Archetypes that are most active in our psyches. Archetypes are the ancient patterns of behaviour that are embedded in what Carl Jung described as the "collective unconscious". Caroline Myss has developed these archetypes and created 80 cards, that are individually designed to provide the basic Light and Shadow attributes of each archetype. The deck comes with an instruction booklet and can be used by itself, or in conjunction with 'Sacred Contracts'.
The concept of 'Archteypes' and the hypothesis of 'A Collective Unconscious' are two of Jung's better known and most exciting ideas. In this volume - taken from the Collected Works and appearing in paperback for the first time - Jung describes and elaborates the two concepts. Three essays establish the theoretical basis which are then followed by essays on specific archetypes., The relation of these to the process of individuation is examined in the last section. The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious is one of Jung's central works. There are many illustrations in full colour.
Archetypes, the latest work from New York Times best-selling author Caroline Myss, offers readers an engaging and illuminating way to better understand themselves and those closest to them.Whether we’re aware of it or not, each of us identifies with certain universal myths and symbols, otherwise known as Archetypes. In this new work, Myss covers ten primary archetypes: Caregiver, Artist, Fashionista, Intellectual, Rebel, Queen/Executive, Advocate, Visionary, Athlete, and Spiritual Seeker. She helps us to determine which archetypes best define us as individuals, laying out each archetype’s unique path, hidden strengths, and potential weaknesses. By identifying our personal archetypes, we can gain the knowledge necessary to consciously define and live an authentic life that reflects who we really are. Myss also includes suggestions for embracing one’s archetype to the fullest, providing tools for avoiding common pitfalls and daily practices for enhancing the positive qualities of each archetype. In addition to the ten archetypes above, there’s a glossary covering more than 20 sub-archetypes.Much like highly popular books on the enneagram, Myers & Briggs, and astrology, which also allow people to type themselves, Archetypes is destined to become a classic. Its publication is set to coincide with the launch of a major new social platform, www.ArchetypeMe.com, where users can take a quiz to discover their archetype and find an individualized experience around content and community.
Awakening the Heroes within In this brilliant sequel to her bestselling The Hero Within, Carol Pearson traces twelve different archetypal patterns that can aid inner development and the quest for wholeness that is life's journey. The bestselling, widely heralded, Jungian introduction to the psychological foundation of a mature, authentic, and revitalized masculinity.Redefining age-old concepts of masculinity, Jungian analysts Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette make the argument that mature masculinity is not abusive or domineering, but generative, creative, and empowering of the self and others. Moore and Gillette clearly define the four mature male archetypes that stand out through myth and literature across history: the king (the energy of just and creative ordering), the warrior (the energy of aggressive but nonviolent action), the magician (the energy of initiation and transformation), and the lover (the energy that connects one to others and the world), as well as the four immature patterns that interfere with masculine potential (divine child, oedipal child, trickster and hero). King, Warrior, Magician, Lover is an exploratory journey that will help men and women reimagine and deepen their understanding of the masculine psyche.
Imagine life is a stage and you are the actor trying out for different character roles. Each role has light (beneficial) attributes but also has dark (adverse) qualities, however, each role provides us with lessons to be learned - this is the world of the 'archetype'. These archetypes are universal character patterns that have existed throughout time and across cultures. We all adapt and display them, but the ones we exhibit can differ.Looking at each archetype, we see each has its own behavioral pattern made up of certain character traits: because we live in a dualistic world, these traits run along a continuum from those which are assets to those which become defects. Some refer to the aspects which are beneficial as light and those which are detrimental as shadow. This duality is ever present in our world and as such, warrants exploration. In this sense we could consider each archetype a microcosm of the universal dichotomy. When we turn our attention to and explore the archetypes, we can better identify them in ourselves and others, our own light and dark traits can be revealed to us, and we can explore the lessons each archetype (or role) has to teach us. We walk this earth, are busy living our lives and for many it doesn't cross their mind to explore their world by becoming aware of character traits and the roles we play. Few people pause to take a personal inventory. But when we do, the archetypes unmask our roles and awaken us to richer and deeper experiences. We can cut to the chase, we can see ourselves and others more clearly, we may see that which can be detrimental to our life, we can change course, we may see the lessons we are here to learn - we can become the captain of our ship - and we are no longer asleep at the wheel. We see more clearly and can live our lives more consciously. This book includes:-Easy to understand descriptions of over a hundred Jungian archetypes or roles people play. -Character traits that will be found under each archetype: beneficial and detrimental.-Suggestions and examples given how to better identify the archetypes in yourself and others.-Psychological, thoughtful questions posed to explore what lessons an archetype might be trying to teach you. -Character Trait Continuum provided for the reader to explore where he falls on the continuum. My goal in writing this book is to provide a description of many (not all) of these archetypes in the simplest of terms for those who have never been able to identify them or the insights they offer. I have followed each rudimentary description with a set of provoking questions you might ask yourself. My hope is that, in doing so, the world of the archetype will awaken within you and you will see them within yourself and others, you may become aware of what they are trying to get you to see or learn, and you will be able to make wiser choices and lead a more conscious, insightful, fulfilling life. This is not a book to read through in one sitting as little will be gained in doing that. I recommend reading no more than a few archetypes at a time and then giving each archetype's character traits, description and accompanying questions thoughtful exploration. At the end of this book I have included a Character Trait Continuum: a long list of character traits which lists the light trait to the left and its opposing trait/s to the right, in hopes it will be equally beneficial and insightful to explore where you feel you fall along the continuum. I hope you enjoy your exploration of the world of the archetypes, and it is my sincere wish that it may expand your present perspective and enhance your life.Janet Rodriguez, MFT, PsyD is a licensed psychotherapist who resides in Laguna Niguel, California. This book describes a system of meaning management, the first-ever systematic approach to successful brand meaning. 'This book illuminates the most ancient grooves in our mental architecture, which Carol Jung described as "archetypes", and shows how they can be employed to bring meaning and profit to a brand. There is a nascent power here, which, if understood correctly, can bring a rare vitality to a brand or a corporation' - From the Foreward by Alex Kroll former Creative Director, CEO and Chairman of Young & Rubicam., Some brands are so extraordinary that they become larger-than-life, symbolic of entire cultures, and used and admired by consumers the world over. But in spite of all the books and banter about branding, few companies come even close to developing iconic identities for their brands. New Internet brands are being born every minute, with lots of flash and fanfare, but often with no real human connection to make them truly relevant. At the same time, mature brands are diluting their identities in an attempt to respond to shifting trends, while other others attempt to graft meaning onto products in artificial and ineffectual ways., As a result, millions of advertising and promotional dollars are being squandered. Understanding and leveraging archetypal meanings - that is, finding the soul of your brand and then expressing it in ways that tap into universal feelings and instincts - are key prerequisites to effective marketing in today's intensely competitive and complex environment. Archetypes - which can be found in reoccurring patterns in art, literature, myth and fables - show us the way., Carol Pearson and Margaret reveal that when these deep psychic imprints are understood and employed, brands not only gain meaning, but companies can also gain market share and increase shareholder value. Yet, until now, no system has been available to help guide the management of archetypal meaning.Best-selling author Carol Pearson has spent 30 years developing sys
