Axminster Hobby Series HBS200N Bandsaw
Axminster Hobby Series
£187.96
The Axminster Hobby Series HBS200N bandsaw is our smallest model and is designed to be bench mounted. It features a welded steel chassis with a cast iron table for strength and stability as well as a solid rip fence which locks rigidly. It's a straightforward machine, with a direct drive motor and balanced cast alloy wheels. Blade width capacities range from 6-13mm; it also has copper blade guides and ball bearing thrust guides. These combine to effectively control the blade allowing thin slices of veneer to be cut and the top guide even has a rack and pinion height control. The top wheel is mounted in a welded steel sub frame with blade tensioning and tracking controls conveniently close. A single dust outlet port provides efficient dust removal when connected to a suitable vacuum extractor. The machine is supplied with a 6mm, 6tpi blade made from UK manufactured stock. This is a really effective little bandsaw and would be superb for the hobby or craft workshop or as an additional machine for smaller work.
Axminster Hobby Series AH-1218VS Woodturning Lathe
Axminster Hobby Series
£329.95
For those looking for slightly larger capacities and motor power plus the convenience of variable spindle speed with electronic control, but still within a reasonable budget, this would be a great choice. Made almost entirely in cast iron, the bed of this lathe has a finely ground top surface and ensures stability and minimal vibration during operation. The thick walled cast iron headstock and tailstock provide rigidity, coupled with strength and years of trouble-free turning pleasure. The tailstock is hollow (9mm bore) allowing the use of a standard long-hole boring auger and features automatic ejection of centres. Quick release levers allow for easy and accurate positioning of tool rest and tailstock. The lathe is powered by a 550W DC motor with electronic speed control that provides full torque at all speeds. The spindle speeds range from 500 to 4,080rpm, with a choice of two belt ratios. The spindle nose has the very common 1" x 8tpi thread and a 2MT internal taper, so a large range of accessories is available. Solid rubber feet help to eliminate movement whilst in operation. The tailstock barrel has 50mm of movement and includes a 2MT live centre. An additional bed extension is available, giving an extra capacity of 670mm between centres. This is a great lathe for those looking for that extra power and capacity but retaining portability. Supplied with Axminster drive and live centres, 150mm tool rest and 75mm faceplate. N.B. The distance between centres will vary and be dependent on the type of centres or accessories used.

Axminster Trade AT350WL/AT1416VS Woodturning Lathe
Axminster Trade
£849.96
The AT1416VS utilises the very reliable inverter technology usually found on much larger machines. Electronic variable speed is a desirable feature for woodturners, enabling fine tuning of speed to suit delicate work, larger diameters or out of balance work pieces. A three step poly-V pulley system allows three speed ranges which coupled with the load sensing inverter ensure maximum torque and stable spindle speeds. The magnetic backed switch unit can be placed on any convenient position on the lathe bed or headstock to suit the work in hand. It incorporates on/off buttons, a speed control knob and a forward and reverse switch. An LED digital read-out of the spindle speed in RPM is a useful feature that helps control your work. A 400mm(16") between centres and a 350mm (14") swing over the bed capacity is generous on a lathe this compact. Spindle indexing is achieved in 15° segments by insertion of a magnetic dowel pin. Threaded holes (3/8"x16 UNC) are provided at each corner of the lathe for bench mounting. Tool post diameter 1" (25.4mm). This lathe has proved to be very popular for both teaching and craft demonstrations, not too big nor heavy but with enough capacity to show off your skills. Supplied with four prong Axminster drive centre, Axminster revolving tailstock centre, 75mm faceplate and a centres knock out bar. N.B. The distance between centres will vary and be dependent on the type of centres or accessories used.
Axminster Trade AT150PPL Precision Pro Lathe
Axminster Trade
£429.96
This lathe has been purpose built for pen and small project turning, even on a commercial scale. It is compact and portable, but being made almost entirely from cast iron it has the weight and vibration absorbing qualities that only add to the turning experience. The main feature for pen turning is the ER20 collet chuck fitted to the spindle nose. This is an extremely accurate method of work or tool holding, the clamping being concentric every time. We have designed and included a unique pen mandrel for this lathe which creates grip onto the pen blank without exerting compression force onto the mandrel spindle, allowing it to run freely. The mandrel is held between the collet chuck and a special hollow tailstock drive centre, the bore of which closely fits the mandrel spindle allowing no play, the tailstock barrel being wound out to create grip onto the pen blank. The mandrel can hold one or two pen blanks at a time, saving time if a bulk batch needs to be produced. The lathe is powered by a 375W brush motor, being controlled by a very well made PCB and giving a spindle speed range of 400-3,600rpm. The spindle is supported within two over-sized ball bearings, running without discernible vibration. The tool rest holder is also in cast iron, with a cam lock clamp and ratchet style levers. Two tool rests are provided, 80 and 150mm. The tailstock is again in cast iron, with a smooth lead screw giving around 35mm of movement. This is a superb pen and small project lathe, quiet, smooth running and able to run all day if required. Perfect for the workshop or to take around the craft fair circuit. Accessories available as extras include a light pull drive, polishing mop arbor, 3/8" & 5/8" four prong drive centres, 1 1/2" woodscrew chuck and 2" faceplate. Supplied with collet spanner, pen mandrel, 80 & 150mm tool rests and a centre knock-out bar.

Axminster Hobby Series AWDE5002 Extractor
Axminster Hobby Series
£159.95
This extractor can be used in small home workshops for common wood machining tasks where a higher airflow than provided by a vacuum extractor is required. The quiet running induction motor provides plenty of power to extract from many small workshop machines. The inlet diameter is 100mm(4"), the outlet into the bag is 100mm(4") and the airflow is sufficient to handle the majority of waste likely to be produced in the small home workshop. A useful feature is that it can be used either on the floor or suspended from a sturdy wall using the two hanging brackets provided. A useful grab handle and castors allow easy mobility. Hose not supplied. See extraction hose selection for further details. Please note that this is a chippings extractor and should not be expected to collect fine dust. As with all the high volume low pressure airflow machines, the inlet should not be restricted to below 75mm diameter and the bag should be emptied regularly. Spare bag provided.Performance Rating 1

Axminster Hobby Series AWEDE2 Extractor
Axminster Hobby Series
£179.95
A chip and coarse dust extractor for extracting from saws, planers, spindle moulders, bandsaws and similar machines in a small workshop. It comes with a cloth filter bag on the top and a plastic waste collection sack bellow. Power comes from a 750W induction motor equipped with a no-volt-release switch and emergency stop button. A single 100mm inlet can be used to connect to machines with a similar sized extraction port. Using smaller diameter hoses will severely reduce the airflow. An unusual feature of this extractor is the floor sweeping attachment which fits to the base of the machine, allowing the extractor to be wheeled around the workshop, collecting waste as it goes. There is a fine filter bag available for use when collecting medium sized dust particles, or alternatively, an optional fine dust cartridge filter can be fitted. The machine is supplied with approximately 600mm length of inlet hose; additional lengths of 100mm hose are available separately. This machine uses waste sack size - 560 x 915mm (340068).

Axminster Hobby Series FM300BC Extractor
Axminster Hobby Series
£249.96
This extractor, with its 1.5kW motor, large capacity collection bag and twin 100mm hose inlets, will handle most single workshop machines. Use the single 125mm inlet or the twin 100mm adaptor for two smaller machines. The top cloth bag acts as the filter whilst the lower plastic bag collects the coarse dust and chippings. Plastic bags allow a number of bags to be filled and stored ready for bulk disposal. There are bag hooks to make changing a full bag easy. The extractor's filtration system can be upgraded with the addition of the cartridge filter. This has a large surface area of filter material, so does not reduce the airflow. A simple rotating handle is used to clean the filter. The solid connection tube between the impeller housing and collector creates an efficient air flow system. For best results, keep the hose size to a minimum of 100mm, using a smaller diameter hose will cause the air flow to drop markedly. Castors on the base allow for easy mobility around the workshop. This is a good, solid, simple extractor. Lengths of suitable inlet hose are listed under Dust Extraction Accessories. N.B. This machine uses waste sack size 785 x 1,200mm (501187).
