Heat exchanger (originally recuperation in Latin receiving back, returning) is an energy saving device designed to save thermal energy through heat recovery. As of today thermal energy recuperation is one of the basic energy saving technologies and an integral part of ventilation systems in modern buildings and premises. The passive heat exchanger PR 150 installed in ventilation systems serves to transfer heat or cold from extract air flow to intake air flow from outside. Recuperation minimizes thermal energy losses and reduces operating costs for warming up of supply air in cold seasons or for cooling down in hot seasons. The passive heat exchanger PR 150 is designed for joint operation together with supply and exhaust in-line fans, as for example, VENTS VK 150. The heat exchanger is installed behind suspended ceiling and connected to Ø 150 mm ductworks. The environmentally friendly Perma-Vent contains no moving parts and requires no maintenance. It works on the scientific principle that when the room temperature and humidity are greater internally than those externally moist air is ventilated outside the building due to vapour air differences. The Perma-Vent contains a vapour permeable membrane, this means vapour is allowed out of the building without allowing a draught back inside. The unit is easily and economically installed using a 4.25" (108mm) core cutter, positioned wherever condensation/mould is most prevalent. The thickness of the wall does not present a problem the standard unit is supplied with a 13.5" (350mm) long ventral core which will accommodate most properties. The unit is designed to be very unobtrusive, with a 6" (152mm) internal white plastic grill. Externally all that can be seen is a 6" white plastic external grille. It is possible in severe instances that a more advanced condensation control unit will be required to remedy the condensation. However the installation of a Perma-Vent is a simple, inexpensive, starting point to tackle the local problems of condensation and mould. The external diameter of the tube is 104mm so the core should be cut larger eg. 4.25" (108mm).

DESIGN: The casing is made of double-skinned polymer coated steel panels, internally filled with 20 mm mineral wool layer for heat- and sound-insulation. The hinged panel of the casing ensures easy access to the internals for cleaning and other maintenance operations. FANS High-efficient external rotor EC-motors and centrifugal impellers HEAT RECOVERY The unit is equipped with a plate counter-flow polystyrene heat exchanger with a large surface area and high heat recovery efficiency. Heat recovery is based on utilization of heat energy contained in the extract air stream for heating up the supply air stream. Extract air transfers most of its heat to the intake air flow. Heat recovery reduces heat energy losses in cold seasons. In summer the heat exchanger performs reverse and transfers a part of the accumulated coolness from the cooled extract air for warming up the intake air. This contributes to better performance of air conditioners in ventilated premises. The drain pan under the heat exchanger block is used for condensate collection and drainage. The drain pan is fitted with a drain pipe for condensate removal. The electronic freeze protection system is used to prevent the heat exchanger freezing in cold seasons. In case of a freezing danger registered by the temperature sensor the supply fan turns off to let the heat exchanger surface get warmed up with warm extract air flow. After a freezing danger is over the supply fan in turned on and the unit reverts to the standard operation mode. When the light is switched on the fan starts, when the light is switched off the fan continues to run for the pre-set time (which is adjustable). This tubular heater will provide a safe, low level of heat output as it is designed for continuous operation and will reach normal operating temperatures within a few minutes after the appliance is switched on. Based on the surrounding environment and ambient temperature, the heater may periodically cycle its heat output to ensure the maximum permitted surface temperature is not exceeded. Splashproof to IPX4 standard. THERMOSTAT INFORMATION: ● The heater is fitted with an adjustable thermostat which allows the user to control the heat output.
